Pre Production Has Begun!!!

Yay! We've begun the pre-prodcution of our new album!! We're starting with "Might As Well" :-) We're soooo excited to begin this new project! It feels like it's been too too long since we've recorded our songs! And we have oodles more great songs so it's going to feel amazing to finally record them :-)If all turns out well, we're hoping to make a music video this summer as well.

I think part of the reason we're so excited to record this new album is that we feel we've outgrown our old one. It's been almost 3 YEARS since we recorded that one! Our music has evolved, our sound has matured, and our skillz have definatly improved. It's about time we recorded something that can illustrate where we are now as musicians and people.

We're going to start recording in my little home studio and see where it goes from there. I'm a little afrad, scratch that, I'm TERRIFIED of recording drums! Lol I haven't a clue what I'm doing in that regard, so I'm sure once we've gotten down the rough tracks we'll move to a proffessional studio. Well we better get crackin'.

Till we meet again...

Hello Again....

Wow, it's been over a month since my last entry!! And I've only had TWO!!! I'm beginning to think I suck at this a little bit, eek! Sorry to those of you who have been waiting oh so patiently for me to resurface...I will try to do this more often!
____

First off, our March 12th show at Fresh Start Bistro went great! The place was packed, the food was nummy and the music spectacular!

We were so great they wanted us to come back! So we're playing there again next Friday, April 23rd. Same time 7:00 - 10:00 in the PM, the address is 484 Riverbend Square in the lovely city of Edmonton. This time however, we have some treats for you....First off we'll have Nick Lovejoy joining us on the Djembe/Tambourine/Shaker and other percussion type thingys :-) and secondly our KEYTAR will be making its first appearance! Woohoo for the Keytar/Gorgan/Belly-synth. We're super excited to be bringing it this time it's wicked awesome and a TON lighter than our regular Keyboard....believe you me, this is going to be a show you don't wanna miss!

The show is $7.00 and you can make reservations by calling Fresh Start @ (780) 433-9623.

At the end of March we played at a friend's PhD party (we'll call him "Dr. Drew")...We had a fantastic time! The group Transcends also played that night. They were playing as a trio that night with vocals, guitar, piano, and flute. Normally they play as a four-some but their guitar player was on tour with Carrie Hyrniw at the time. They performed a great set of some classic music :-) Check out their website at http://www.transcendsborders.com/

Most recently we played at the Great Canadian Trade Show in Sherwood Park and were lucky to have my niece handy to video tape the performance for us! Here is one of our new songs "Might As Well" that we performed :-) I quite like it (Karli wrote it...)

We're also apart of a cover band called Jukebox Divas (http://www.jukeboxdivas.com/) and performed there as well here are vidoes of us performing "Love Shack" and "I Gotta Feeling" ...

Phew! Alrighty I think that's all for now! Toodles and thank you for reading!

Popcorny Goodness...

A long long time ago, about Fall 2008, we came in contact with a man named Jik who in turn recommended us to a man named Barry, who was the founder and owner of HevyD's Oldfashioned Kettle Korn in Vernon, BC. Prior to our introduction, Barry had a vision to help independent artist get out there and started putting free downloads in his bags of popcorn. Since then HevyD's has teamed up with Music BC and The Province to create the Province Playlist which launched January 2010. Read the story at HevyD's Website!

Last week (week of March 1) Drowning Ophelia was one of the artists featured on the Province Playlist as one of Music BC's picks! So go download our song "History Repeating" as well as songs from the other artists and the artists from previous weeks :-)

Blog Take One

Welcome to Drowning Ophelia’s first ever blogging attempt! I’m being lazy here and just posting my February news letter teehee…..subsequent blogs however will be unique lol

Some of you may have been wondering why we haven't played a show in over 6 months :-) Well, the reason for that is because in October Candace gave birth to a beautiful baby girl! Needless to say it has taken awhile to adjust to being a mom but now we're ready to get back out there and play some music!

Up Coming Shows

We've booked our first Post-Baby show for March 12 at Fresh Start Bistro (484 Riverbend Square, Edmonton, AB, Canada) and are super excited to be playing live again. If you're in the Edmonton area, or going to be at the time, stop in and see us play! The show starts at 7:00 pm and goes till 10:00 pm, with $7.00 charge to your tab. We have tons of new material and Fresh Start has AMAZING food...

New Music

We've also began working on our second album, woohoo for us! As I said before we have tons of new material and we’re anxious to get it recorded! So far we’re planning to have it finished mid 2011.

Old Music

Speaking of a new album we still have our first album available...where can you get your copy you ask? It's available on iTunes , CDBaby and at our website, www.drowningophelia.com. If you're in the Edmonton area we have some copies at Blackbyrd Myoozik and Megatunes on Whyte ave and at Presto Music Studio(92 Ash Street) in Sherwood Park.

Thank you for reading!
